“Please join us in congratulating our Aspen Challenge team for winning 1st place and a combined $20,000 cash prize, awarded during a ceremony at FIU on April 14, 2022. The championship team was coached by Mr. Cox and Mr. Khan, and consisted of NAF Academy students: Alexa Toribio, Diago Gomez, Janaysa Dorcin, Joanna Noel, Rachard King, Samuel Jeanpierre, Selin Ravelo and Seth Brown. In addition to their cash prizes, FIU also awarded these students $2,500 annual scholarships for 4 years. for a total of $10,000. The challengers had 8 weeks to develop a tool to connect poor families to existing resources in Miami. They competed against 18 other high schools in Miami Dade county. Our American Patriots created the website 305daycares.org to help families find affordable childcare, and will be traveling to Aspen, Colorado this summer on an All-Expense paid trip to present their work. Big thank you to all Academy Leads, Ms. Gutterman, and the Science and Engineering departments for all their help and advice.
